Rules & Regulations
The purpose of these rules is to ensure that everyone knows wher they stand. The long winded nature of some of them is to ensure clarity.
The aim is for the rules to be as detailed as possible so that any potential animosity between coaches and league staff can be avoided.
Thank you for taking the time to read them.
General Rules:
The Ratzpeiss Blood Bowl League is a place for anyone, anywhere, who 'plays well with others' and is able to be 'both gracious in defeat and magnanimous in victory.'
To make things easier, when creating a forum account we prefer that you use either your Steam name or your in game name.
In principle, matches will be played once per week.
Coaches will have seven days to arrange matches starting and ending at 01:00am Central European Time (CET) every Tuesday.
We hope this seven day window across the weekend will allow coaches in radically different timezones to find an equally convenient time to play.
A reminder will be sent out when daylight savings time is observed.
Coaches are encouraged to try to remember to check the forums at least once a day.
A voice server will be seriously considered when it is deemed appropriate, desirable, and/or necessary to have one.
Main Round Robin competition settings:
Turn timers: 3 minutes*
Stadium Enhancements: On*
Ageing: Off*
Ressurection: Off*
Kick Off Events: On*
Registration Fee: No.
The main round robin competition composition is flexible depending on the number of coaches,
but in principle we are aiming for a mixed spread of races with roughly between 6-10 teams per division in a horizontal structure (no promotion/relegation)
with a post-season playoff/championship system.
At the end of the season, coaches may opt to continue with their team or make a new one.
Coaches are restricted to 1 team in the main competition, which must be new and unused when it enters, and 2 in the Custom and Mixed/Experienced competitions.
This currently means a total of 5.
While loyalty is much appreciated, we don't care how many different leagues you play in as long as you fulfil your commitment to playing out the season you start here.
This is not a guild, it's one league among many.
Any other future competitions will have their rules posted in their Sign Up thread.
In the interest of diversity, there is a race limit of 2 teams of the same race per division.
eg: 2 Wood Elf and 2 Elven Union is OK. 1 Wood Elf and 3 Elven Union is not.
Mixed teams are not allowed in the main competition.
Please check the Sign-Up thread for availability.
New teams must have a minimum of 11 players in any configuration.
There is a Mixed/Experienced ladder and a separate ladder for Custom teams. In these competitions there are no Team Race or Team Value restrictions and anything goes.
Match settings for both follow the main round robin competition. Registration for either (or both if you want) is open but requires validation.
You are required to actively participate in the main Round Robin competition to enter a team in these ladders.
If your team in the Round Robin competition is removed for any reason, any other teams you may have will be removed from their respective other competitions.
The reverse is not the case.
If there is enough interest, non ladder tournaments may be considered for these types of team at a later date.
*Coaches will be consulted periodically on these settings.
1: General Code of Conduct.
Essentially, please try not to be a f##kwit.
Don't put the League Administration in the very uncomfortable, and totally unnecesary, position of having to make moral judgements on your conduct.
The goal of the league is to foster a good natured, and friendly community of competetive players. As such any harmful conduct, abusive, unsporting, or otherwise, will in no way be tolerated and will in most cases result in a perma-ban.
In short, respect your fellow coaches.
Any disputes between players are to be communicated directly through a private message to the League admins.
Pleae try to provide us with as much information (and supporting evidence) as you can.
2: Match Code of Conduct.
In addition to the above, during a match all coaches are expected to be sporting.
Play clean or dirty, but win fair and play nice.
'Sporting' conduct is defined as being anything within the rules of the (online) game.
'Unsporting' conduct includes, but is not limited to; Exploiting bugs, using hacks and/or cheats, rage quitting, habitual 'convenient' disconnects, and generally behaving like you're 3 years old (even if you are) when you win, lose, or Lady Nuffle rigs the dice for or against you.
It is also expected that you finish the season. Someone has to win, and someone has to lose. Maybe next season will go better.
3: Scheduling
You are (both) responsible for contacting your opponent before each match. You must use the relavent section on this forum for scheduling.
You must attempt to contact your opponent in the scheduling section on the forums (so that it is visible to both the Administration AND your opponent) and you must suggest a firm window in which to START your match (one hour max time frame). If you or your opponent are not able to setup a FIRM time frame to meet, at least 24 hrs before 01:00am CET on the Tuesday of the week in question, this will immediately result in a 0-0 draw and the least possible SPP will be awarded.
To clarify: You may PLAY your match at any time within the seven day window before 01:00am Tuesday, CET, but if you FAIL TO ARRANGE a time to play, then 24hrs before the deadline, the match will be declared a 0-0 draw. This specifically includes cases in which either you have both made contact but have not been able to AGREE, or, when neither coach has made any public attempt to arrange a time to meet.
Even in the case where both coaches happen to be online and end up playing their match, they MUST go through the formality of informing the league on the forums before 01:00am Monday, CET. Failure to do so will invalidate the result and a 0-0 draw will be declared, with the least possible SPP being awarded. In this case suggest posting before playing so that no-one forgets.
There will be no second chances on this and habitual offenders will be subject to review.
Exceptions to this are as follows:
You have attempted to arrange a time to play and you have had no public response. In this case, you will be granted a 2-0 victory.
Cases in which a 0-0 draw will secure a particular finishing position in the league for one or both of the teams. These will be reviewed on a case by case basis, but will be approached as an exploit pending further investigation.
If you make a habit of not organizing matches, you will be banned.
If you miss your match, your opponent will be awarded a 2-0 victory.
You are permitted to be no more than EXACTLY 30 minutes later, to the second, than the arranged window. You must inform your opponent within the arranged time frame (through same thread you arranged the match on) that you are going to be late. The time stamp on your post will act as proof. Failure to inform your opponent and/or arrive in due time will result in a 'missed match' being declared and your opponent will be awarded a 2-0 victory.
4: Conceding/Disconnecting
You may not concede before YOUR 12th turn.
You may not concede more than 2 matches in a season.
You may not concede two consecutive matches.
You MUST have possesion of the ball when you concede. This does NOT include Kicking Off.
You MUST inform your opponent of your intention to concede. It's bad form to just quit without saying anything.
In general, we discourage conceding, but life sometimes happens. In the case that you have a real life emergency during a game you are permitted try to reschedule your match - or in this case, you may concede ignoring the above rules on conceding. We ask that you do not abuse this. If it happens twice in a single season, you will be removed (not banned) from the league for the remainder of the season. If it becomes a habit over more than one season, you will be banned. Whatever the circumstances.
Leaving a match AFK more than once, ever, will result in you being banned permanently.
Disconnects will result in a warning if you have a good explanation. A second time (different match) will result in you being removed (not banned) from the league (regardless of the circumstances).
If you disconnect before turn 2, the match will be reset and you will be able start again. If there has been any SPP made by either side before turn 2, or both coaches have taken their second turn, the coach who did not disconnect may choose whether they accept the forfeit win or wish to reset the match.
If the same player disconnects before turn 2 twice, the coach who did not disconnect is automatically awarded a 2-0 victory.
If disconnecting becomes a habit (admin discretion), you may be banned until such time as you have a more reliable connection.
5: Leaves of Absence
If you need to go on vacation or know you will be out that week, please let the League Admins know far ahead in advance (not just the day before). Also you must post on the forums the weeks you'll be out on the scheduling forums and let your opponent know.
By letting the League Admins know ahead of time those games missed during the vacation will be given a 2-1 loss instead of 2-0 forfeit losses. (Please note that this does not count for last minute circumstances and if you need to be out for the very next immediate match it will be counted as a 2-0 forfeit loss)
6: Absent Players
Matches where coaches have left the league and no game is possible will yield 2-1 win results and NOT 2-0 forfeit wins for the player who is playing them. The reasoning is that on average each game yields 10spp and with a 2-1 win the team still receives 11 total spp and did not risk any of their players getting hurt. Also this is a guaranteed win and where Nuffle is concerned there are no such guarantees in Blood Bowl elsewhere.
In cases where if a coach decides to not play their last game of the Round and they have no possibility of making it to the next round, they will be removed from the season (not banned) and will yield a 2-1 admin win to whomever they are playing against.
7: Team Roster
Brand new teams must have a minimum of 11 players.
Coaches may not fire players if their roster contains 11 players or less. Regardless of their status.
Beyond this, you may hire and fire players at will at any time.
8: Judge and Jury
Although coaches will be consulted for their input regarding the league rules, ultimately in regard to any of the above, the decision of the Administration is final.
The purpose of these rules is to ensure that everyone knows wher they stand. The long winded nature of some of them is to ensure clarity.
The aim is for the rules to be as detailed as possible so that any potential animosity between coaches and league staff can be avoided.
